Strategy |
The global recession and tough market environment forced us to adopt a series of
restructuring measures - but we always did so with an eye to being ready as soon
as economic recovery brought new market opportunities.
The strategic reorganization, in which the Solar and Medtech business areas were
established as complementary areas to our wireprocessing activities, was completed
in 2009 with the roll-out of the three business units. Innovation, customer focus
and operational efficiency are the drivers behind our success in all business areas.
Our goal is to achieve long-term organic growth in these three core business areas
while gaining entry to new market segments and consolidating existing positions
by means of complementary acquisitions.
As in previous years, we used our numerous trade fair appearances in 2009 to present
a whole range of innovative products to our customers. Alongside the photovoltaics
centre of excellence in Rotkreuz, established to develop process solutions for thin-film
applications, Komax has now set up a German-speaking hub for the medical technology
market.
Furthermore, we have successfully launched the Komax Solar brand. We are now planning
the next step for Komax Medtech. Systematic roll-out of these brands is important
if we are to go beyond our traditional wire-processing business to create a strong
and lasting position for ourselves in these promising markets.
